Blueberrry Scones
So, I made these this morning, and they are already almost gone, so, I guess they are husband and kid friendly! ;)
Blueberry Scones
1 cup blueberry yogurt
2 tsp baking soda
4 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp salt
1 cup butter, softened or melted
1 egg
1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
1. In a small bowl, blend the yogurt and baking soda, set aside.
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease 2 large baking sheet.
3. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, lemon juice, and salt. Mix in the butter. Stir the yogurt mixture and egg into the flour mixture until just moistened. Stir in the blueberries.
4. Turn dough out onto a light floured surface, and knead bread briefly. Roll or pat into two, 3/4 inch thick rounds. Cut each into 12 wedges, and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.

Great article
This is a great article. I highly recommend reading it. It's about the current chief of staff of the Air Force's wife, who really stepped out and went above and beyond her usual duties as an officer's wife and built the Center for the Families of the Fallen. It's a place for families to mourn their loss of a service member before they witness their loved one reaching U.S. soil again at Dover, AFB.
Anyway, the article was well written and really hit home, being a military wife.

For my husband
My husband pointed out the other day that while my posts aren't completely negative, they aren't exactly positive either. So, I showed him some pictures I had taken earlier that day. He decided to just keep quiet. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but, they are kids, and a handful.

10 Things no one tells you about kid #2
- Adding a second child is like adding 5 children to your family dynamic.
- Sleep is not over-rated. It is in fact, under-rated.
- Wine will become your best friend (along with your breast pump. Feel free to name it).
- Loosing the baby weight is not as easy as it was before. In fact, it is completely opposite. You will actually need to go to the gym and try to get it off. Good luck finding free time.
- You will be the parent in the store with the screaming children, but, instead of looking guilty and hoping they quiet down, you may be screaming with them. Maybe if you yell loud enough, someone will come to your rescue.
- Polygamy ALMOST sounds like a good idea. Who couldn't use another woman to help you clean up?!
- Any extra money you one had is gone. Especially with 2 kids in diapers.
- Speaking of diapers, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT make the mistake of counting how many you will change in 1 day with more than 1 child.
- Laundry will double, your time to complete it will not.
- And finally, cartoons to entertain the first child become invaluable. Keep many on hands at all times, and be prepared to get their songs stuck in your head. Feel free to sing them in the grocery store during your meltdown. It may help.

Loving Life
It's been awhile since I've checked in with everyone. Life has been VERY hectic the last couple months. I had a slight complication with the pregnancy, my hips separated, making everything VERY painful. And, I have the drug tolerance of a 500 lb. man, so, all the vicodin and percocets I was given did nothing to help. Then a couple weeks later, I was induced and had our second child, Anneliese Mae, on Friday, April 23rd at 12:04PM. She weighed 6 lbs. and 1 oz. and 19 inches long. She looks JUST like her father.
A little over 3 weeks after she was born John got home from Afghanistan. So, over the past couple weeks we've both been re-adjusting to being a family again. I've noticed I've become quite the control freak. Luckily, he always lets me drive, since I am a bad back seat driver. But, when it comes to cooking, I am a kitchen nazi. Even this morning we were laughing because I would ask a question about what he was doing or make a suggestion on how to do it differently. And of course when he was making fun of me by asking me little things like if he was cutting the french bread correctly for french toast, I was too tired to get it for a good couple moments. Ha.
On a side note, having a second baby is more exhausting than when you just had your first baby. I am beginning to think this zombie mode I'm operating at will never end. I'm starting to get Annie used to sleeping in her crib, so, it's been a lot of sleepless nights trying to get her to fall asleep on her own. It shouldn't take more than a couple more nights, but, I'm wondering if I can handle a couple more nights at this point! Yesterday I went back to sleep once John woke up with the girls, and I ended up sleeping till noon. I can't remember the last time I was able to sleep in that late. Not only because I feel like I'm wasting my day, but sleeping in the daylight has never been very easy for me. So, I guess that really proves just how exhausted I was. Plus, I have come down with a cold this past week, so, I've been trying to fight that while playing mom and wife. Which has resulted in my house taking the backseat. I have folded laundry sitting on the couch, more clean laundry piled in 2 laundry baskets, another pile of dirty laundry sitting on the floor of the laundry room, dishes in the sink, and Tori's things scattered across the house. I need to just designate an hour or two and pick things up and put them away and my house will look a lot better. But, being a new mom (for the second time) means having an "extra" hour of peace and quiet is rare, and usually used to take a shower. Sometimes, if I'm lucky (or maybe if John is lucky), I get to shave my legs too! Ha.
Anyway, that's all I have time for! Big surprise. ;)
